My Information Report


This Term we are learning about Marine Habitats. I have been learning about Raccoon Butterfly fish. This are three cool facts about these fish

  • They have the ability to change into darker colours.
  • They are 15-30 metres long.
  • Their scientific name is Chaetodon Lunula.

    I can't even begin to imagine what a Raccoon Butterfly fish might even look like?!
    Where would I find these fish? Why do you think they need to be able to change to darker colours?

    1. Hi Mrs Kingston,
      Thank you for your comment. Well, you could find these amazing creatures from Australia to Taiwan or you could find them in the Eastern pacific also there is 13 species in Antarctica. I think they need to be able to change colours so they can camouflage and hide from predators.     I never knew that Raccoon Butterfly fish had the ability to change colours, Do you know how heavy a Raccoon Butterfly fish is? I sore a Raccoon Butterfly fish once at butterfly creek and they looked beautiful. Have you ever seen a Raccoon Butterfly fish in real life before?
